Enshittification examples I'm dealing with today that aren't even related to Google because THAT's a pile that's been explored at length already:
Those are at work, where I don't control which OS or software versions I use.
It didn't use to make any difference, but now it's way harder to stretch a window from the top than from the bottom or the sides. It's not impossible, but it's way harder. It didn't use to be.
The latest advances in signing security require two-steps verification. I'm not saying it's not more secure, for all I know it is, but it's certainly WAY more annoying to have to whip out my phone to sign in again at random times. And when I got a new phone, I had to call the help desk to set up the thing again, it's literally designed to not let me do it by myself (that desgin choice did not extend to including any information anywhere I might find it that this was the case).
I now have to keep an eye on Microsoft Team chat, in addition to emails and texts. And if I'm looking to look up something someone told me, I can have fun searching there as well as my emails.
If you have a split screen or freeze panes in Excel, going down your workbook with page down no longer works. The screen is going to move. It's going to look like the cell on which the focus is is moving. But when you get close and switch to the up or down key to relocate exactly, you're brought back to the top. This is consistent with freeze panes, it's random with split screens.
Using filters on a tab with a pivot table is no longer allowed. It crashes Excel completely when you try to use them, including on older workbooks. It will let you create them. But if you try to use them, Excel self destructs.
And older one but still a fun one: In Excel (or any office program) every window is now a separate instance with its own menu. So the menu is repeated on every window if you stack them horizontally, forcing you to collapse them or lose half your screen, or if you stack your windows vertically, it just gets squished into uselessness.
-Bonus: you want to minimize all of excel or move it all to one side? LOL. Nope. One window at a time baby!
So with all these independent separate windows that are probably eating up more CPU (Excel certainly has more trouble handling bigger workbooks and calculations than it used to) and that make screen management way harder and obliterated the idea of workspaces, at least if one window crashes the others are fine, right? ROFL. No. Crash one, they all go.
Did I mention crashes happen way more often now? Remember Windows 95? Yeah, like that. We're back to impulsive saving, honey! If you leave your desk, you never know what's waiting for you when you get back! Life is full of fun surprises.
Online help now has two varieties of response for these performance issues that didn't use to exist:
1. From microsoft: that's not a thing. You did something wrong somehow. Try re-installing everything. If it's still happening, try not using that function anymore and make your workbooks smaller. It used to work fine in the previous version? No it didn't. What previous version? You're hallucinating.
2. From other users: go in the registry and either learn a lot of things about registries or just trust that this random internet user is not suggesting something that will make several things worse. Assuming of course you even can access the registry.

Top Web Analytics Tools Used by Professional Web Development Companies
In the digital age, launching a visually stunning website is only part of the equation. To truly succeed online, businesses need to understand how users interact with their website—what’s working, what’s not, and where improvements can drive more conversions. That’s where web analytics tools come into play.
A professional Web Development Company doesn’t just build websites; it equips them with powerful analytics tools to track performance, user behavior, and ROI. These insights help shape data-driven decisions that improve design, content, SEO, and conversion optimization.
Let’s explore the top web analytics tools that seasoned web development teams rely on to deliver measurable results.
1. Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Google Analytics is the cornerstone of web analytics. Its latest version, GA4, offers advanced event tracking, cross-platform insights, and predictive metrics powered by machine learning. It allows web development companies to understand:
How users navigate your site
Which pages drive the most engagement
What paths users take before converting
Where users drop off in funnels
GA4 also integrates seamlessly with Google Ads, Tag Manager, and Search Console, making it a must-have for any serious digital strategy.
Why developers love it: Flexible event tracking and detailed reporting help tailor websites for better user journeys.
2. Hotjar
While GA4 gives you data, Hotjar gives you context. This tool offers heatmaps, session recordings, on-page surveys, and user feedback polls. It’s invaluable for understanding why users behave the way they do—like why they abandon carts or ignore CTAs.
Web development companies use Hotjar to visualize mouse movements, clicks, and scroll depth, helping them fine-tune page layouts, improve forms, and enhance user flow.
Why it matters: Visual behavior insights support UX improvements and CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization).
3. Microsoft Clarity
Clarity is Microsoft’s free analytics platform that offers session recordings, heatmaps, and a dashboard that highlights user frustration signals like rage clicks or dead clicks. It’s lightweight, privacy-friendly, and an excellent alternative or companion to Hotjar.
Development teams appreciate Clarity’s real-time reporting and its ability to filter sessions by device, country, or traffic source.
Why developers use it: Great for debugging UX issues and improving mobile interactions without heavy processing.
4. Google Tag Manager (GTM)
Although not an analytics tool in the traditional sense, Google Tag Manager is vital for implementing tracking codes (or “tags”) across your website without changing the codebase each time.
Web development companies use GTM to manage:
Event tracking (button clicks, video plays, downloads)
Remarketing tags
Conversion tracking for Google Ads or Facebook Pixel
Third-party integrations like chatbots or CRMs
Why it matters: GTM allows developers to collaborate with marketers for faster, more flexible tracking setups.
5. Mixpanel
Mixpanel is an advanced analytics platform focused on event-based tracking and user-level insights. It helps teams go beyond pageviews to understand how users interact with features and flows—ideal for SaaS platforms, apps, and product-based sites.
It offers cohort analysis, funnel tracking, and retention reports—all of which are essential for iterative product improvement.
Why it stands out: Granular insights into user behavior help developers refine specific site features.
6. Matomo (formerly Piwik)
For businesses that need full control over their analytics data (especially in industries with strict privacy regulations), Matomo is a powerful open-source solution. It can be self-hosted and complies with GDPR, HIPAA, and other standards.
Web development companies set up Matomo for clients who prefer not to share data with third parties or need more control than Google Analytics allows.
Why developers choose it: Customizable, privacy-focused, and suitable for enterprise-grade tracking.
7. Crazy Egg
Crazy Egg provides tools like scroll maps, click tracking, and A/B testing to optimize website pages. It's particularly useful for eCommerce and marketing-focused websites looking to improve call-to-action placement and layout design.
It also features easy-to-understand reports and drag-and-drop editing capabilities for marketers.
Why it’s helpful: Combines analytics and testing in one platform for rapid UX iteration.
Final Thoughts
Analytics isn’t just about collecting numbers—it’s about transforming data into actionable insights that lead to better design, improved user experience, and higher conversions. A modern Web Development Company doesn’t just build pages—it builds data-driven digital ecosystems powered by tools like GA4, Hotjar, Clarity, and Mixpanel.
By integrating the right analytics stack, web development agencies empower businesses to track, test, and optimize every aspect of their online performance. In a competitive digital landscape, that edge is not optional—it’s essential.

From List to Data: A Beginner’s Guide to Data Transformation
In today’s data-driven world, transforming raw information into structured formats is a critical skill. One common task in data processing is converting a list—a simple, unstructured sequence of values—into structured data that can be analyzed, visualized, or stored. A “list” might be a shopping list, a sequence of names, or numbers collected from user inputs. “Data,” in contrast, refers to a structured format such as a table, database, or dataset. The goal of transforming a list to data is to make it usable for insights, automation, or further manipulation. Understanding this process helps beginners make sense of how information is organized in software systems, spreadsheets, or databases. It’s not just a programming task—it’s a foundational part of digital literacy.
Why Converting Lists to Data Matters
Lists are everywhere: in text files, spreadsheets, form submissions, or even copied from emails. But these lists often need structure before they can be used. Structured data can be sorted, filtered, analyzed, or even turned into charts. For example, if you receive a list of customer names and purchases, it’s just raw text until it’s organized into phone number data and columns—where each row is a customer and each column is a data point like name, item, or price. Without this transformation, automation tools, machine learning models, or even basic Excel functions can’t work effectively. Converting lists to structured data enables better decisions, reporting, and scaling of workflows.

Simple Tools for List-to-Data Conversion
You don’t need to be a coder to transform lists into data. Tools like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Notepad++ make this easy. For example, using the "Text to Columns" feature in Excel, you can split list items into cells. In Google Sheets, functions like SPLIT() and ARRAYFORMULA() help break down and reorganize text. Online tools like CSV converters also turn lists into structured CSV files. These steps make it easier for users to handle raw data without complex scripts. Beginners can start with drag-and-drop interfaces and learn basic data formatting.
Moving Beyond Basics: Automation with Python and Scripts
Once you’re comfortable with basic tools, learning to automate list-to-data conversions with scripting languages like Python is a powerful next step. Python libraries such as pandas make it simple to import a list from a file and convert it into a DataFrame—a table-like data structure. For example, if you have a list stored in a .txt file, Python can read it, parse it using string functions, and format it into rows and columns automatically. This is especially useful when handling large or repetitive data. Automating the process not only saves time but also reduces human error. It opens the door to building entire data pipelines, integrating APIs, or performing advanced analysis.
